A highly creative marketing and communications professional, Rebecca Black founded Black Current Marketing in 2006. Building on 15 years of experience in the international music industry, and armed with a Masters degree in Business and the Environment, Ms Black has since applied her considerable project management, marketing and business development expertise to help her clients achieve their sustainability and sales goals on time, on budget and in style.

Janet McCausland is an enthusiastic, energetic, results-oriented communicator who adds value with her ability to think strategically, motivate others and get things done. She has developed marketing and communications solutions for close to 15 years at an agency, as a client and as an independent consultant for a variety of companies including financial services, software, data processing and a range of environmental companies.
With a background in marketing communications and management consulting, Jennifer has supported a diverse array of clients, from finance (Thompson Reuters, Citibank, President’s Choice Financial) to creating award-winning websites for Michelin, Georgia-Pacific and NASA. Recently Jennifer has been working with entrepreneurs and local App developers with their overall business strategy and go-to-market plans. She now applies her talents at Option B Creative, specializing in digital media with a focus in social media.
Joselynn is the founder and driving creative force behind Option B Creative, bringing over 13 years of experience in Branding and Design. Her creativity, ability to think with broad strokes, and knack for figuring out what clients really need has made her successful supporting clients from a variety of industies. Joselynn's work has been featured in enRoute magazine, The National Post, The Globe and Mail and, most recently, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Pam is a freelance writer and communications specialist with 15 years experience in the Canadian financial services industry, a PhD in Film and Media Studies, and a strong project management background. Whether contributing her writing and editorial talents to the corporate environment, the academic arena, or more recently in Toronto’s cultural sector, she adds clarity and polish to any content, helping clients to communicate and connect better with their key stakeholders.
Scott is a founding partner of Trioro Inc. a Toronto based Internet Technology Agency, and an entrepreneur specializing in Project Management and Software Design. He provides leading edge strategic advice on Black Current's online and social media client services.
How do you engage Ontario citizens in solar power? Given them a share. SolarShare Community Solar Bonds allows everyone in Ontario to become a solar power investor - and solar power their portfolio - through the purchase of $1000 bonds invested in Ontario solar projects. Black Current strategized the marketing launch and campaign of Ontario’s first solar power co-op in 2011, including market research, website and social media design, marketing collateral and event materials, membership services training and more.
The Ontario Power Authority established the Community Energy Partnership Program (CEPP) in 2010 to help fund early stage development of community-owned renewable power projects. Black Current was on board to create and market the new grant program, including brand and logo design, messaging, marketing materials, media launch with the Ontario Ministry of Energy, community outreach and engagement. With Black Current providing ongoing marketing services - including webinars, public and industry presentations, and event marketing - CEPP was fully subscribed in its first year.
To catalyze new capital, talent and initiatives dedicated to tackling social and environmental problems in Canada, the MaRS Centre for Impact Investing (MCII) engaged Black Current to research and co-write this progress report, Mobilizing Private Capital for Public Good (PDF), for the Centre’s launch in November 2011.
Outreaching local communities and First Nations as potential partners in their small hydropower developments, Water Power Group of Companies is working with Black Current to create the necessary community engagement, marketing and communications tools to approach community equity and limited partnerships. WPG is a certified B Corporation, a new type of company, which uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
Black Current provides project and event management services for events that promote sustainable business solutions.
